History of Wienerberger
Wienerberger Ltd is part of Wienerberger AG of Austria, the world's largest brick maker. The Wienerberger group has been manufacturing clay building products since 1819, when they opened their first factory in Vienna, Austria. Currently Wienerberger operates a total of 235 plants in 24 countries with a product range that includes bricks, roof tiles and pavers.
Wienerberger's presence in the UK has been built up though a series of acquisitions that have included small companies such as Chelwood Brick Ltd, The Brick Business, Ockley Building Products and Irlam Brick. One of the UK's larger brick manufacturers, Baggeridge Brick, was acquired in 2007.
